Trowel on COPE Cantabria: Digitalizing the Future of Construction

The construction sector is one of the most traditional industries and, at the same time, one of the most urgently in need of digitalization. In a recent interview on COPE Cantabria, our colleague José Fernando Delgado, head of sales at Trowelapp, spoke with Cristina Jimeno about how our company is revolutionizing construction and site management. You can watch the full interview on our YouTube channel

An Urgent Need for Digitalization

Even today, many companies in the sector manage their sites with endless email threads, spreadsheets, and outdated systems that don't communicate with each other. This creates inefficiencies, errors, and a waste of time and money. Trowelapp was built to change this reality, offering a technological tool that centralizes all site information in one place.

Since its commercial launch in 2022, we have gained more than 100 clients across Spain, and we are now setting our sights on Latin America, where the need for digitalization is equally evident.

The Challenge of Convincing a Traditional Sector

One of the biggest challenges we face at Trowelapp is resistance to change. Construction is a sector where manual work continues to dominate, and many professionals feel uneasy about new technologies. However, as José Fernando explained in the interview, companies that have taken the step toward digitalization have seen a significant improvement in efficiency and profitability.

In addition, new legislation such as the Working Hours Recording Act (Ley del Registro Horario) requires companies to maintain detailed records of working hours. Trowelapp simplifies this process with a geolocated digital check-in system, reducing bureaucracy and improving management.

An Intuitive Tool for Everyone

One of the key aspects of Trowelapp is its ease of use. Our app features a simple check-in system: a "play" button to start the workday and a "pause" button to end it. This means that even workers without technology experience, or those facing language barriers, can use it without any difficulty.

Expansion into Latin America

The Latin American market presents major opportunities for digitalizing the sector. There, many companies still work with traditional systems and lack digital tools adapted to their needs. Trowelapp has generated great interest in the region, and our goal is to establish ourselves as the go-to solution for site management.

Support and the Future of Trowelapp

Despite our growth, at Trowelapp we believe that the business ecosystem in Cantabria could do more to support tech startups. Although we have received backing from organizations such as the CEOE (Spanish Confederation of Employers' Organizations) and the Chamber of Commerce, we miss having more training opportunities and specific innovation support.

Looking ahead, we keep evolving. Our team is working on new features and the integration of artificial intelligence to make Trowelapp an even more powerful and efficient tool.
